This film on DVD is a journey through history, where famed photographer Edward S. Curtis explains Native American cultures in his own words and photographs. This spectacular cinematic reconstruction of Curtis's 1911-12 magic-lantern slide show illuminates a time when Native Americans were forced from their lands and separated from their cultures.

Curtis's documentation of Indian cultures serve as a unique footprint in time. The Indian Picture Opera contains hundreds of his photos, plus the music that accompanied the original slide show. Its a magical time toura throwback to nearly 100 years ago. Modern computer graphics and animations bring it to life. So do the 19 recreated musical compositions that Henry Gilbert composed for the original slide showhaunting music that had been lost for nearly 100 years!
